What is the „Abwicklungsschein“?
The Abwicklungsschein is a VAT exemption form.
All sales in Germany are subject to a 19% or a 7% VAT (in German: “Mehrwertsteuer”). This VAT has to be charged to all German customers. Fortunately, there is a tax agreement between the United States and Germany, that all deliveries to the U.S. Forces are exempt from the German VAT. This is valid for all U.S. Forces, even those within Germany. The “Abwicklungsschein” is proof for us, that we have delivered the goods to the U.S. Forces.
